Your First Dental Visit

Lakeshore Dental welcomes new patients!

What should I do on my first dental visit?

At Lakeshore Dental, new patients may come as walk-in or by appointment. Upon arriving at our dental office, our friendly staff will ask you to fill out some patient forms such as appointment policy, medical history and HIPPA form. You may also download these forms and fill them out at home for your convenience.

Once all forms are accomplished, your appointment will be confirmed. It is best to disclose all pertinent information especially with regard to you medical history. This way, our dental team can assist you and recommend the most optimum dental treatment for you.

During your first dental visit, Dr. Brenda L. Halsey, DDS will thoroughly examine the condition of your teeth, gums, jaw and mouth. If necessary, a dental x-ray may be taken to have a better look at the conditions of your teeth and mouth.

Once all preparations for your dental treatment is completed, Dr. Brenda L. Halsey, DDS will discuss all possible dental options for your oral needs. She will also discuss the advantages and benefits of each treatment.

Lakeshore Dental aims to provide the most ideal treatment for your oral health needs. We take the time to work with our patients and to answer their questions. This way, you and our team can work together in maintaining and restoring good oral health and hygiene.

Your first dental visit is important because it is your first step to having good oral health. It is also the start of a good dental relationship with the dental team you can trust.

A Child’s First Dental Visit

What is the right age for a child to have his or her first dental visit?

Generally, it is recommended for parents to bring their child to his or her first dental visit 6 months after the first tooth comes out or at age one. Dr. Brenda L. Halsey, DDS aims to preserve a child’s healthy gums and to maintain his or her healthy teeth. It is best to start observing good oral hygiene from infancy.

The first dental visit for infants and children is usually a very short one as it involves basic pediatric treatments such as check-up and cleaning. For older kids to adolescents, other treatments may be recommended like dental fillings, Invisalign and other dental solutions.
